I’m Shannon, a nineteen-year-old, Montreal-based science student with a passion for sewing, knitting, and vintage fashion.
I’ve been sewing since I was about six years old, but I only ever sewed I sporadically throughout my childhood and early teenage years, usually sewing clothes that I never ended up wearing.
Later in high school, I realized that there is so often a hidden cost to the environment or human rights when we buy cheap, disposable garments, and I picked up sewing and knitting more seriously as an alternative to today's 'fast fashion'.
I want to build myself a wardrobe that is classic and high
quality. I want clothes that I won’t want to get rid of because I put time and
effort into them; clothes that won’t fall apart after a few wears; clothes with
a story.
And this is where I’ll share these stories; I hope you enjoy them!
I saw your post in We Sew Retro and as a fellow Vancouverite, I thought it only appropriate to come visit your blog! I look forward to seeing more of your creations. I also hope that following your new blog will inspire me to FINALLY start my own. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting! I know how you feel, I had been reading sewing blogs for so long before starting my own. I'm really glad I finally did!
DeleteHi! Looks like you'll have lots of new readers thanks to your post on We Sew Retro!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see a young woman who can sew so well...puts me to shame, really!
I play the sax too. I think there are some pics of me on my blog playing in my band.
I'm looking forward to reading your future posts.

Yes, for sure! And thank you!
Deletewow! you're only 17 and you can sew your own clothes? I'm sooo jealous! :) That's one of my goals. Being able to sew (some) of my own clothes. I sew a bit but only small projects and I try to learn that skill. So, well done you! And bravo for being concerned for so many social issues! Love from Greece! Evi xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Shannon,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Renée and I came across your sewing website online. I love your blog and sewing projects. Your style of presentation is beautiful and classic.
I was wondering if you might be interested in joining our freelance blogger team, and incorporating our ribbon into a future sewing project? The project is yours to keep, we only need photos or video of the tutorial submitted to us for posting.
I would ask you to select any ribbons you like from our website www.mayarts.com, and we will donate them to you, including free next day shipping. I then post the final project to our blog and social media pages, promoting both the project and requesting our viewers visit your own website.
Let me know if you are interested :-)
Hope to hear from you soon!
All my best,
Renée
